Where There’s a Will There’s a Wake

$25.00

Life, as they say, is a terminal illness. We can rant, we can rave, we can do whatever we like and it won’t make a bit of difference – it will happen to us all someday. Death and taxes are inevitable – yet why do we put so little thought into how we’ll address it?

In Australia less than 50% of people have wills and even fewer have had courageous conversations around funerals and wakes. 78% of people say they want to die at home and yet only 14% do. We need to change the way we deal with death.

Hi, my name is Karin Slade and I am a funeral director and a wake caterer. My own experiences and those of many of my clients has brought me up close and personal to the rituals and realities of death. I realised people are looking for up-to-date information and guidance about end-of-life planning, funerals and wakes.

I wrote Where There’s a Will There’s a Wake to empower everyone in owning their end of life choices, to answer your questions, break through the myths and help you plan for a celebration of life where YOU remain in control of a very personal circumstance.

Whether you are preparing for the death of someone close to you or creating your own funeral and wake plan, Where There’s a Will There’s a Wake was written to support you in owning your end-of-life choices, so you can “go your own way”, take pressure and stress away from your family and friends, and create funerals and wakes that truly reflect the life you are celebrating.

Where There’s a Will There’s a Wake breaks through the myths of the funeral industry and explains the legal requirements around death and funerals. But most importantly, it gives you all the resources you need to make funerals and wakes a heartfelt, personal and appropriate celebration of life, rather than a tragedy.

Karin! It’s fantastic! Very informative, just what one needs in either preparation for their own will/wishes, and great for those left behind with all the questions too. So well done.

Oh Karin-
The book is so very very good, congratulations this is a masterpiece, I’m delighted to be an advocate for you and what you offer.

I’m thinking about all the funerals and wakes I’ve been involved in… you may know that my children went to more funerals than any other children I know. As a young family when they were in upper primary/junior high we farewelled numerous friends and family. It was a terrible time. I found it very hard to connect with the “farewells”.

I’m with you all the way into going your own way.
